Lila Cervantes entered the world of music with a smile on her face and a passion to sing for the Lord. Her humble beginnings would find her singing in churches, school choirs and several soloist opportunities in cantatas for various denominational churches.
In 1990 she was asked to sing as a featured guest Spanish soloist in “The Life of Thomas A Dorsey”. It was at this juncture that Lila would be singing with very spirited soul singers. At the beginning of the week Lila gave a lovely rendition of “Precious Lord”. By the end of that tour Lila would find her new voice; giving soulful passion to the song and rendering it extremely memorable. As a result of that debut, Lila was asked to join LA Chapter and sang with them throughout Southern California.
By 1995 she had begun a professional career as a bilingual singer at weddings, receptions, as a featured soloist for cantatas, and for the Mark Finley Net ’95 series in Hawaii. That same year she was compelled to enter a Christian Radio Contest and won the right as a featured soloist on a compilation CD titled, Lei of Dreams. The song produced; Dream On was the first release from that CD and is still currently airing in Hawaii.
A year later Lila entered Hawaii Stars; comparable to our American Idol. Through a series of first round, semi-finals, and finalist steps, she stormed her way to the top and received the title The Grand Champion for the Summer of 1996 of Hawaii Stars. She was featured in various television advertisements promoting those finals and landed an interview on The Aloha Morning Show with Kimo on KCCN 100.1 FM.
By 1997 Lila was producing and performing concerts throughout Hawaii. Within a year she would begin touring to various southern states to establish her singing career. With the help of a music agent Lila began singing internationally in Japan as well as producing and performing concerts in Germany and Hong Kong.
In 2008 she met ASCAP Christian composer, Brenda Lane, and began the production of her debut CD I Can See arranged, engineered and produced by Nashville’s Kent Hooper of House of Big and Phillip Keveren a prolific composer, arranger, keyboard artist, and producer.
Lila lives the life of a military wife, and presently resides in Southern California with her husband David and their two beautiful daughters, Xylina and Lyana.
